Starts before the Mafia was as big a force back in the early 30s. Federal involvement when Hoover got the FBI started up to today. Includes considerable personal info about people on both sides of the law and includes a lot about the Mafia involvement in delivering the electoral vote for Illinois which won the 1960 election for Kennedy. I haven't read all of this series of books but IMO the ones I've read were pretty good.
