To expand on my original answer (not in my experience), in the late 70's and early eighties, I was an fairly enthusiastic BR competitor and won a lot of stuff. I shot mostly 6mm's (6x47, 6PPC) but also some 22's (222, 223) and a 308. In the 6's, I shot the Sierra 70 BT for matches which weren't too important but mostly I shot 70 grain Mc Cracken bullet. I had these in both boattail and flat base and my best aggs were almost always with the boattails. In the 22's, I did better with the FB. In the 308, most of the best bullets were boattails and that is what I shot. Again, the best performers were McCracken boat tails. I don't compete anymore but the boattails still perform well enough that any improvement would be minimal. GD
