The taliban was given everything they needed to survive by the Pakistani's. Pakistan is owned and controlled by China because Pakistan owes them millions of dollars they have borrowed from them to keep their government alive. I don't think iran has a huge stake in Afghanistan, It's china that has a huge stake. Afghanistan has all of the rare earth minerals that the rest of the world wants. China is the problem via Pakistan.

You are correct Birdy. This invasion by the taliban has been in the planning for 20 years. I think pakistan and china have been waiting for this moment and Joe let them have it. China get's it's rare earth minerals and pakistan gets rid of some debt that china holds. The only losers are the good people of Afghanistan who just want to be left alone.

Chinese could care less about civilian casualties. They have more ground soldiers then we can ever field and they have the full support of Pakistan which we never had.
That said they will probably sacrifice way more soldiers then we have because our guys are better fighters.
