You nailed it Rocky...it's a tossup, let the Feds continue to mismanage it but still the public can access it....or, let it go private, and it gets locked up to no public access. In Northern Calif and Southern Oregon, millions of acres of public land were given to the railroad barons in the 1850' and 1860's...to incentivize the building of railroads. Well, they have owned that land and logged the hell out of it for 160 years (that's ok, jobs, taxes etc.) but they have in the last 30 years been locking it up to the public access. Foreign investors are buying it up too. Just in my county alone 310,000 acres have gone to New Zealand investors in the last 3 years. All gated and locked up.
