Chile con carne translates to, chile(peppers) with meat...no mention of beans(frijoles). When I lived and worked in El Paso in the '70s, that's what the mezcan day laborers ate for lunch; 1/4" cubes of diced hot chiles and meat sauteed and mixed together with nothing else.
