Certainly not for a whole elk or deer,but we use ours to grind some more than chewy elk steaks that are in the freezer. .Usually 2-3 pounds at a time for chili, sloppy joes, spaghetti etc.Works fine.

I also have a Northern Tool $120 grinder.Probably about the same as Harbor Freight's '. It is maybe 25-years old plus. I have probably down several dozen elk, deer, and antelope with it, and it still is going strong. It will keep one person going as busy as they want. However, I have heard that the newer ones have plastic gears instead of steel,. Still, you can buy a lifetime supply of those $120 ones for the cost of one Cabelas or Lem grinders.
