I have the opportunity to buy a like new original (pre-USRAC) WRA XTR Featherweight 243 with box and papers & a like new early 80’s USRAC Short Action XTR Featherweight 243. About the same price. Both are Very Nice. I am thinking about going with the original WRA XTR Featherweight with the “standard” length action. Any opinions on one vs the other? I probably ought to get both. I am sure they are equally nice & functional.
I'm guessing the WRA model has the 'cap' shroud version of bolt - OK, but not as good as the USRAC model... Pros and cons on each..
Pro - the former is not a true S/A, but has a magazine with a larger spacer.. Nice to be able to rebarrel to something longer in the future if needed ( - i.e., more versatile). The latter has the better shroud, and a true S/A which will hold a much better value overall... BUT - you will be limited to S/A rounds IF a rebarrel is in the future..
