270 standard...............H4831 and a good 130 grain bullet. There are other powders that will also give good results. I've had good luck with IMR4350, and R26 is supposed to be very good, providing you can find it.

Personally, when I first started reloading the 270, I just went with the Jack O'Connor "standard" load of 60 grains of H4831 and a 130 grain bullet. There's some debate today about that loading, as O'Connor was using data from the old surplus powder, and today's powder is supposedly different. But, I've yet to experience a problem, and I've loaded 1000's of rounds using the O'Connor data and modern H4831.

Bottom line, do a little research and see what others are using, and just go from there. Try several different powders and see which one works best for you.
