Drivers typically figure/need 1200-1400 a day to run the truck. If your load is a time suck, even short miles 7 cpm isn't enough.

A lot goes into a rate - deliver time, location, style etc.


That's what i am seeing, rates between $2 and $6, depending on source and destination, averaging in that mid-3 range. Shippers and receivers with bad reputations for slow loading or unloading are having difficulty booking trucks or are paying more.

The shortage at the LA ports is exacerbated by California's AB5 and the Clean Truck rules for the port, but the fundamental problem is too dam many boats.
