I have a custom built 98 action in 22-250 with a 24" bbl in 1-14" twist. I killed 40 deer with it and retired it from deer hunting. I never had to chase one down or even track it. Dead on the spot. The bullet I have always used is a 55 gr soft point. Always shot 3/4" at 100 yards. Never felt the need to go heavier. Wallacem in Ga
