The 629-4 is believed by a lot of people to be the pinnacle of Smith & Wesson revolver development. The dash 4 had all of Smith & Wesson's endurance package enhancements. As for the model you're looking at, it looks fairly well used to me but I'm no expert. The grips are not stock and neither is the front sight. Back a few years ago I'd expect to pay around $600 to $700 for one in that condition. With today's insane prices, it will probably take $1300 to $1500 to buy it. For me, I'd keep looking for one in nicer all original shape with the original box. That will take some time, but they do come up for sale. You can set up a search on Gunbroker so when a model you're looking for comes up for sale you get an email notification. Be careful, buying older guns can become addicting. Good luck!
