I have shot my 1886 45-90 for several years and never gave any thought to twist. The heaviest bullets I shoot are 450 grainers as I prefer a little higher velocity over a little heavier bullet.
I do not shoot cast bullets, just jacketed bullets or solid bullets as the game dictates.
I have shot a lot of thin skinned game with Winchester 300 grain Nosler PP bullets.
