That's back when Ruger barrels might still be hit & miss. However, if the price is reasonable, you can put a barrel on it that will make it a keeper, in any cartridge you want. That's the nice part of having a #1 or 1885, modify to suit as req'd, minimal work to do it, modify the extractor if req'd, that is all that is extra. Your choice of OAL, no mags to contend with, bolt faces, etc.


Got a crack in the buttstock so it is not coming home. Owner says it is superficial and can be covered with linseed oil.
