I take a reading off the fired case! THAT is the chamber dimension for that rifle or the headspace reading!. The reading will generally be at the 0 reading of the gauge or damn close to it! I adjust my resize die such that I get that same 'reading' on all of the fired cases that I resize. Generally I can get maybe three firings or so before I will have to bump the shoulder back a bit for easy bolt closure! Sounds very similar, if not the same as the RCBS Precision Mic. John
