An argument might be made that:

140-147s are ballistically superior that lighter bullets in 6.5s.........assuming you hit a certain mv.

Can you do that with the 47? Given adequate barrel length and proper powders - Sure.

As to the best bullet weight for the 47? I will say for ME personally, the 130 AB has been my bullet choice for 6.5x55 and 260 for hunting.......and it is what's in my 47 field loads.

Personally, I believe the 123-130s are vastly under utilized in the smaller 6.5s. The Grendel and BR are best suited for 100-130 no doubt. The larger rounds can handle the heavier bullets, and assuming one is REALLY stretching distances, then the case (no pun) can be made to use 140-147s. For under 400 yds on game, give me a 120BT, 125 PT, or 130 AB. The 123s are known to be deadly, and there are no flies on the 130 Bergers given the plethora of dead deer etc by them. There are the mid-weight specialty bullets by Nosler and Barnes that also do well. Hard to find bad bullets that are designed for hunting in 6.5, IME.

I will add, Alan is as good a resource on this round as any.......
