My first Smart phone was an android 3G phone, and I got by pretty handily with 3 GB of "high speed" data allowance monthly. Usually ran out, but it was close to the end of the month and I was ok using slower speeds for a couple of days.

Went to a 4G android phone and suddenly 3 GB of data evaporated in just a few days. And yeah... I was using the phone for more things, but was also told that 4G ate data faster than 3G
Most months now I get by pretty well with 15GB of high speed data.

Starting to look like eventually 5G is gonna be hard to avoid. Is there any way to compare/extrapolate how much more data a 5G phone would use if doing the same things on it that I do with 4G?
