My thanks to Damnesia for his empirical data on early first version 250-3000s, circa 1915. Yes my Savage rifle #17255X, like yours is able to shoot 90 grain Sierra Gamekings and the shorter 87 grain bullets but not the Sierra 90 grain BlitzKings which were simple too long and tumbled and keyholed at 50 yards. My THANKS! Incredible knowledge seemingly only found on this forum. (no free bore - no replacement barrel needed!)
