Age of consent in NY is 17. I checked on that way back when I was in my mid 20's because I was in fact dating a 17 year old cheerleader.
Back when I was in school, late 70's, girls dating older guys was a common thing. Girls [young women] mature faster/sooner than guys, it's always been that way and always will be.
These days people want to treat junior/senior school age people like babies, it's no wonder so many act like babies these days. I have family who treat their 25 year old offspring like babies.
