Definitely something suspect about the whole deal.
The other quarantine facility proposed in Brisbane (Pinkenba), approved and funded by the federal government, was going to be 1,000 beds and cost $400M, and was going to be a government asset. Wellcamp is 500 bed and (will) cost QLD taxpayers $235M and did not meet federal requirements (location distance to airport and hospitals), and is an asset of a large private company (Wagner Corporation). $45M original payment by the government plus $150M leasing fees over a year to Wagner. QLD taxpayers just donated $200M worth of assets to Wagner.
I'd love to see the CCC go through this one.
