First, let me say that I understand that Capstick was known for employing his "literary license" quite often in his writings. 😉
But I also understand that he was NOT a shrinking violet himself and quite a few of his stories are true.

That said.
Both my kids are LEO's. One Federal, one municipal.
Their departments demand 00 or slugs.
The old man? For a home defense weapon, MY shotgun will be stuffed with #1 buckshot.
At 15 feet, a load of #1 is pretty much a slug.
