Ruger bought the name and the manufacturing rights to the Marlin firearms, they don't have any obligation to honor the warranties on firearms that they don't produce.

I wonder if Ruger acquired the existing parts inventory for the Marlins that were produced pre-Ruger? Probably not, 'cause outfits like CDNN and GPC usually buy that sort of stuff for pennies on the dollar. When Winchester/USRA went out of business, CDNN bought a lot of their inventory of firearms and loose stocks and have been selling them ever since 2006.

FWIW, I bought an XT-22VR on sale at Cabela's in 2015 for $142 and it is nearly as accurate as my Anschutz, Remington, and Winchester target rifles that each cost at least 4x more than what the Marlin cost. I did put it in a Boyds Pro Varmint laminated stock for an improved fit and for the aesthetics, but the accuracy didn't change.
