Okay, honestly, this is just mental masturbation at this point. As the gun has not even arrived yet. And I am only about a year into this 1911 adventure. I had Fusion build a 38 Super barrel for my Kimber 4 inch pro carry II. It works very nicely, but that and pushing a set of sights on and off the Kimber target II is the extent of my customization experience.

I recently purchased a 1977 series 70 Colt 1911 with a 22LR conversion on it. I can only assume at this point that the gun was originally a 45.

But I am already entertaining the idea that it would double nicely as a long slide 10mm.

Is the 10mm compatible with a 45 frame? Would I need to change the ejector?

Should I just take the gun to a good 'smith and let him pick the parts and build me a slide?

Or is there a dependable source for slide assemblies which would require only minor fitting?

I have not found such a source after a few hours of exercising the Google-fu.
