An eastern shore of md sitka deer is considered big at 80lbs. They are aggressive and easily run off whitetail 2x thier size. They also soak up horsepower much more than whitetail. I have seen them soak up a 300win at 50yds and were never found. Once they get in that salt marsh, they disappear. You learn to use whatever makes them look like they stepped on a land mine. Walking too deep into the marsh leads to you needing new boots after your partner pulls you out of the waste deep mud. Not to mention they are the jewell of the East Coast, so I never chance it. I used 125gr NBTs in a 30-06 for a few years and it works perfectly. This year I want to use the mauser just because....
