I’ve always had trouble it seems, hanging onto my .30/06s. This one will stick I think, not because it’s necessarily the nicest, but it’s pretty nice, and the barreled action was born the same year I was, 1952. Great sales point.

Stock’s a trifle short, but I can crank the bolt without banging my nose, so it’s good. The sight is a Lyman 57FN, the base on the receiver ring is for a Sparc 2 red dot, probably what it’ll wear when Grandpa takes it hunting. The stock had to be inletted just about an 1/8” for the Lyman. Xacto saw, chisel, file, pocket knife, then some poly spar varnish.

This was on GB. I put in my top bid, then someone came within $30 of snatching it.
