A woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after fighting off a tiger that was trying to take her baby in India.
Her 15-month-old son also suffered injuries to his head in the attack Sunday on the outskirts of the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in northeast India, the BBC reported.
Archana Choudhary was taking her son, Raviraj, outside their hut to relieve himself when a tiger, believed to have come from the nearby reserve in Madhya Pradesh, attacked, according to the outlet.
The pair were in a field when the tiger came out of the bushes and attacked the infant.

The Times of India reported the tiger grabbed the baby's head with its mouth and was trying to pull the child away when the mother jumped in and tried to fight off the tiger. Her screams for help attracted villagers from nearby areas who arrived with sticks and drove away the tiger.
The woman suffered a punctured lung and serious wounds to her body, and her son suffered a head wound, according to the BBC. A doctor told the outlet both were being treated in a hospital's intensive care unit and had been given anti-rabies injections.
