I'm almost out of Viht Tin Star and need to find a suitable replacement. My son's favorite load in his 357 Maximum single shot rifle is 9.5gr Tin Star and a 200gr LHP bullet for 1160fps. I started with and obtained excellent accuracy using Trail Boss but I ran out of case capacity at 920fps and the bullets wouldn't expand in wet newspaper. At 1160fps the 30:1 alloy expands the HP nicely and he and I both have killed deer with that load.

Using QL, I find that 14gr of A1680 may get close to 1160fps with a 70% case fill. I plan to start my testing at 17gr and work down to 13gr. I will load them with CCI 450 primers. Anyone foresee any problems with using A1680 in this endeavor?

Thanks, Dinny
