No reason to get a fixed 4X scope. Every 4X made today is either high end or junk. The old ones are at, or past their useful life. Rubber seals don't last forever. I wouldn't trust anything more than about 30 years old to not leak or fog up.

If you want to keep it small and light get a 1.5-4X. You can still find 3-9X40 Burris FF-II scopes for around $150 and that would be your value leader. Something in a 2-7X32 would split the difference.


Most people don't really want the truth.

They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.
