I am fortunate to have a range 15 yards from my loading bench. My SOP is load the same 5 shell cases when working up a load. When I see pressure signs or the chronograph shows I am approaching max, I back off and repeat one of the promising looking steps. Once I have find something I like, I take 5 new shell cases and load that load. If the primer pockets don't open up inside of 4-5 loads, I call it good.
