My son took my old Marlin .30/30 waffle top out this morning. It has a Lyman side mount receiver sight and an ivory dot front sight. He used 1990's Winchester Silver tips, and shot a very nice little 6 point at 65 yards. He says the buck literally dropped right there, never moved.
I went out and helped process it. The heart was not hit, but all the arteries on the top were severed.
I had back strap and eggs with fresh biscuits for breakfast.
