Stationed in West Berlin in the early 70's. Die deutschen Mädchen didn't seem a lot different than American girls that age except a more forthright attitude about sex and not so likely to get stinking drunk since alcohol wasn't forbidden fruit to teenagers; beer was almost considered a soft drink. Never noticed any hygiene or hirsuteness problems.

Better educated than your typical American of a similar age. One young lady was in her 2nd year of English and asked me to help her with some of the more difficult phrases in Shakespeare's Hamlet. In our 2nd year of German class we were barely beyond talking about Paul and his friends at the Bibliothek.

The dependent daughters of the American NCO's and officers were the gold standards for loose morals. Little tarts of 15 and 16 giving you blatant "F me" looks at the PX. Had to be very, very careful around that stuff.

Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery.
Hit the target, all else is twaddle!
