A generation earlier, late 1920's I had some great uncles who quit their cow wintering jobs in the Great Basin and went to Lone Pine Calif to work for day wages at the Anchor Ranch who supplied stock for the bazillion western films being made then. They described it as 'the party that never ended'. They claimed to have hoisted elbows with quite a few western 'stars'. It wasn't a total loss though, Uncle Gus brought home a trick rider/roper by the name of Dollie Conrad, who stuck around for 60 years or so.


Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.
