Depending on what State you are in anything smaller than .357 is unlawful for deer. I personally would go with the .358. I would also bet that some 7.62x51 military brass that has some extra metal at the neck and annealed nice and soft could be transformed into .358 brass. I see the price of .358 ammo is pretty expensive.
