Some good suggestions here. Not sure how much you are moving, and using your hands with mittens, but here is what I did for sitting out at night or in really cold conditions killing critters. I bought a large unlined pair of leather mittens in which I put a pair of rag wool mittens. Then I bought a tanned beaver pelt, and had a leather man, make me a pair of mittens from this with the fur inside. These fur in mittens were then put in the affore mentioned leather and rag wool mittens. Did the same for my wife minus the ragwool insert, and we used muskrat on hers. Both are very warm and comfortable. Tough to beat real fur for warmth.
