I just ordered and received a Nesco that was featured on America's Test Kitchen. I guess they reviewed a bunch, and this won their recommendation. I haven't used it yet, but it seems to be designed and constructed well and it wasn't too expensive.

Edit: I just used the Nesco vacuum sealer this morning to bag some venison chili. It works great. It actually has some nice features. It has a lock-down lid, on-board roll holder and cutter. It has wet, dry and double seal mode. The vacuum has two settings. It has a marinate function, pulse function and it can seal canisters, but you have to buy the hose separately. I lucked out that the hose from my broken Foodsaver vac/sealer also fits this one.

It's slow sealing, but there's a little countdown that tells you the progress. So far, I'd recommend it.
