Not sure about the best, but the most exciting player I have seen is probably Earl Campbell.
I believe he was as good are better than Jim Brown when it came to running over Defenders.
Met him once. He was an Asswhole.
When he was playing for the Oilers I was living in the bush, no power, but we had a generator we would fire up and watch the black and white TV with rabbit ears.
One of my American friends lived out there too, at the time he had been drafted by the Oilers, he never played though, he went on with his career as an educator instead...... and we used to watch Earl play, he was a beast.
