A steroid shot won't fix this one. They're a pain reliever. They reduce swelling and inflammation but they don't fix the cause. My orthopedist gave me one in one knee and it worked great there. He did a nerve scan on my hand and he said steroids aren't going to prevent further damage.

Well you said you wanted to get your cabinets done before you had surgery - the "shot" sounds like a viable option to me.
