The Rattler is more compact and designed for an AR platform rifle. The new Rattler V2 has a proprietary rechargeable battery with a 10-12 hour run time and each unit comes with 2 batteries. It has a newer sensor that does better in less-than-ideal conditions such as humidity.

The Adder has a 30mm tube and can work on and AR platform as well as a bolt action rifle. It uses a CR123A battery.

The Adder has 2 internal 18650 batteries. I ususally don't put the CR123 in and get 9 hours of run time on a charge. Warm conditions.

As Doug said it's more about mounting as both are good thermals, just different form factors.
