That's a pretty stupid thing to say. United does about 5000+/- takeoffs and landings every day. That's 1,825,000 takeoffs and landings per year. The last crash with loss of life of a United airplane was in 2001 as a result of terrorist attacks. Even considering that, United has done +/- 43 million takeoffs and landings without a loss of life since then.

The average American male lives 73 years. That's +/- 26,645 days. The average male would have to board a United flight every day of his life for +/- 1,613 years to be guaranteed a crash resulting in death on united and those stats are rising daily.

My math may be slightly off but.......I'd say you are pretty safe.
