croldfort. Calhoun has it spot on. Your DL will have the same oval stamp as 99's and most all other Savage/Stevens firearms made between 1949 and about 1971. Look carefully for a small oval stamp at the chamber end of the bbl and on the lug. It will contain a 1 or 2 digit number followed by a single letter. You may need a magnifying glass.
