Allegedly, (the source being non other than JB) 2900 with the 139 Hornady is easily doable and completely safe in most rifles...so it isn't that hot. But, I'm not saying that I'm going to keep it up over 3000. I'm going to get it down to around 2900 and leave it at that. I was merely making the point that this particular rifle seems to get crazy velocities.

And, of course, then again 3000 with that bullet and a 7x57 may not be that hot. The Hodgdon website shows just over 2900 for 50 compressed grains of H4350 in the 7mm-08. With a little more case capacity, a 7x57 should do a little more than that.
