The 1-6x24 is also a great choice for Africa, especially if you're expecting to be up close and personal with something nasty. Mine is the Z6i EE with a CD-I reticle on a Dakota .416 Rigby - big medicine for buffalo. The 1.7-10x42 is a better all-around choice in my opinion - very versatile.
