You've got what you need. Load the 160 Partitions, work up to about 65 grains of RE22, and you're done. Should be about 3000 - 3100 fps with good accuracy.

I'd leave it at 26" to start with. Hunt with it that way, and perhaps you won't want to chop it down. You can always cut it back later, but steel is doggone hard to stretch...

I'm with Guy. I've taken 2 bull elk (and also a British Columbia moose and a NWT caribou) with the 160 Nosler Partition and the 7mm Rem Mag. My favorite powders are IMR4831 and Re-22. I also would start with the 26" barrel. If it won't shoot or proves unwieldy, you can always cut and crown it later.
