When the marlin 336 came out in 356W I bought 2. One each for my 2 sons. They have each shot an Axis here in the Texas hill country with them. They both used the Speer 180 grain bullet. I got the load from one of the 1st articles about the cartridge
(?John Wooters?)...40 grains of H-4198 w/ a Fed. LR primer. We recovered one of the bullets and it looked like an ad. It must have mushroomed to at least .60 caliber. Both were 1 shot kills on pretty big bucks. I've got one of the rifles with me and some of those 220 grain bullets to try. Incidentally, it also LOVES the Seico 200 fpgc. I'm also trying to get the Seico 245 fpgc to shoot well with it. Yes, it will cycle thru the marlin action if I keep the cases trimmed. Load suggestions for the 220 gr. Speer and 245 gr. Seico would be appreciated.
