I had a local smith build a 280 on Mauser 98 action. I had a few extras put on it; Shilin match grade barrel, Timminy trigger, Mark II safety, etc. It was all well worth it. It will shoot the wings off a fly at any range that I can and I have yet to take a second shot on deer. I am using a 140 gr. Accubond in front of RL 19. I have chronographed the load at just over 3,000 fps. I really think the 280 might just be one of the most under respected chamberings.
