Published 30-06 data is good and all, and it will keep a Garand running well.
The 30-06 has more potential (useable volume) than that.
With bullets seated, the 30-06 is only behind the 300 SAUM by less than 4% useable volume. That roughly translates into 1% less velocity potential at equal pressures. Add a strong bolt action to the equation, and all is well.
Look at Barnes online data for the 30-06 and 130gr TTSX.
