I am pretty sure that when my Grandmother was a little girl a person could walk in to a pharmacy and get about whatever they wanted, morphine, hash oil, herion(?). I do not see any evidence that crime was higher in that time period and under those circumstances. Percentage wise, I think it was lower. Let people make up their own mind about what they want or need. The drug laws seem more of a basis for the police state than any other cause.
