Over the years, I have always tossed my spent primers and
damaged brass into a large can.
When the can was full the plan was to send it off in the trash.
The other day I had some aluminum cans to scrap and I happened to be going by my bench so I grabbed my "brass" can.
I didn't get much for the big bag of aluminum cans, but that 14.5 # can of brass scored $21 and change
