I'll match them if I can, but given that
most rifles today are pretty friggin' ugly anyhow (ever see a really pretty synthetic stock, or a gear shifter bolt handle that exuded grace of form?
) I don't care if the rifle and scope match up in finish.
Pretty much my mainstay today, but I'm under no illusion they are pretty. However, matte does normally match my boots and if you ever catch me rubbing a new pair on some rocks, I'm only trying to get them to match the scope. Those shiny shell cases however can be soooo embarrassing.
Addition: Part of the "beauty" of the synthetic stock is you don't have to care that you don't care.
