Dick Morris did a piece on Putin getting himself into a pickle.
Putin is backing down on the referendum on Russian rule in Eastern Ukraine. As Dick points out, if they lost that referendum, it would be a repudiation of Putin's claim that Ukrainians want to be part of Russia. If the referendum passed, he'd about have to envade to "protect" the embattled Russian minority.
Dick says the Ukrainian military isn't much, but the Ukranian people are pretty well armed and DO NOT WANT to be part of Russia. He says there are 40+ million Ukranians, probably 30 mil don't want to be part of Russia. Putin's invasion could be a very expensive blood bath for both sides. Dick pointed out that Germany lost several divisions during WWII to Ukranian underground fighters. Putin for sure knows that history.
So, until a people is disarmed, they're a formidable force to contend with.
The libs need to learn some history...
