Fitness Pal works: Used it to lose around 25 pounds. However, the break thru occurs when you learn to monitor yourself. A scale is a good friend.

Most will never keep the weight off with diet alone. You have to ramp up the metabolism on a constant basis. The older we get the harder it becomes to push yourself to do so. Diet is the easy part, pushing is the hard.

Protein, good fats and exercise increase testosterone production. Without it you will not push yourself. Sugars kills it.

DIY: I mentioned it in a previous workout thread, but find yourself a copy of "Evolution" by Joe Manganiello. Most will never have his dedication, but moderate attention to his principles will result in impressive gains re being in shape and keeping the weight off, and you will not have to plug in numbers to Fitness Pal on a daily basis. His chapter on food and eating are especially interesting.

Keeping the weight off and getting fit isn't a diet. It is a lifestyle.
